Family Rules, Practice Notes and Forms – Appeals

In areas of the Province where the Family Division does not operate, the General Division may hear appeals in family cases originally heard in the Provincial Court under the Children’s Law Act and the Family Law Act.

The civil appeals rules, procedures and forms apply to appeals in family proceedings heard in the General Division.

The Family Law Handbook for Self-Represented Persons, prepared by the Canadian Judicial Council, provides information on family law appeals. The Court highly recommends consulting this reference if you are self-represented.
