Welcome to the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador
The Provincial Court is the Court of first instance for all criminal and regulatory offences. Trials of the vast majority of such offences are concluded there. The Court also serves as the Youth Court, Traffic Court, Small Claims Court for most civil claims up to $25,000.00, and - outside of those areas covered by the Family Division of the Supreme Court - deals with most family law matters other than divorce or division of property under the Family Law Act. The Court also conducts inquiries into accidental or mysterious deaths or fires.
One of our main aims is to provide the public with information about who we are, what we do, where we are and when, how to contact us, and hopefully answer a number of common questions. There is a menu at the top of the page that is persistent throughout the site. It enables you, among other things, to examine our business lines in more detail, learn about court locations, and explore links to outside services and other information.
Another of our aims is to provide staff and law enforcement personnel with a convenient way to get up-to-date information critical to their work. Restricted pages under the Judges & Staff tab require intended users to have an authorized password.
Links from this site to other sites are presented as a convenience to users. The Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador does not accept any responsibility for the content, accuracy, reliability, or currency found on external sites.
